- Grid
Our latest project is the creation of a Grid within an Excel spreadsheet, which can be downloaded and interrogated. This shows people down one side, and with published Census or Directory information alongside, in a timeline sequence. Currently we have data on 1100 people starting with the 1832 Directory across to the 1911 Census, with some other unverified Directory data in the 20th century. This Excel document includes a User guide and filters for searching and sorting by surname, occupation, address etc.

Upon launch of the service, 13 of the Notebooks plus the Table of Contents for all Notebooks were made freely available to all researchers whether Club Members or not. The other 6 are also readily available (links will be forwarded by email) upon making a donation of £10 to the Gringley History Club (or becoming a member which also costs £10 p.a.).
In addition to standard Notebooks we can offer links specific to resolving individual search & retrieval Queries. You advise the name, house, street, club or activity you require and we do the rest. These Queries requests are free within reason to members but we request a £5 donation to the Club from non-members.
Please email mail@gohistory.org.uk in the first instance to request this Query service. Once we have acknowledged that we can assist, please send your cheque made payable to "Gringley History Club" to the Club at 4 Beacon Walk, Gringley on the Hill, DN10 4TD. You will then be sent an appropriate LINK or eMail.
You will require a decent speed Internet connection when you have clicked on a LINK and arrived at your destination, whether on PC, MAC, tablet or smartphone with a reasonable broadband speed.
When you arrive at the Evernote site, you will be offered two ways to join this Notebook.
Casual Researchers should opt for the lower option to View Notebook.
More serious Researchers should embark on understanding Evernote by clicking on Join Notebook.
Facilities to import all the Notebooks into your own version of Evernote- to get the full benefit of all the searching and indexing facilities - are readily available either to Club members or upon receipt of a donation. You need to advise the Administrator of your requirement and the Notebooks will quickly be sent to you.
